Daegu & Hyangchon-dong Alleys

Hyangchon-dong: Nostalgic Alleys with a Scent of Art

When I first visited Hyangchon-dong, it was the scent of people and art that greeted me, and I found myself unwittingly falling in love with the small town. When the Korean War broke out, Writers and artists who have worked in Seoul came down to Daegu to seek refuge from the tragic war. Numerous writers from urban/suburban areas started to settle in Hyangchon-dong and turned it into the hometown of literary men. In the midst of the war of tragedy and despair, they took pens, instead of guns, to make literature blossom again. This is a place where you can vividly feel the 100-year friendship between Ku Sang, a great poet, and Lee Joong-seop, one of the most-loved Korean painters; the alley in his painting is right here in Hyangchon-dong. Let's walk slowly along the nostalgic alleyways where used to be filled with old artists' favorite classic cafes and bars where ripe liquor, beautiful pieces of music, and romantic ideals overflowed.

Then, let's draw...
the traces of the past with watercolors to beautifully color our memory and the nostalgic alleys.

  • 01Say NO to another trip filled with a tight itinerary or moments only for taking proof photos!
GreetGO is a trip to see, feel, and get to know of a nostalgic area, rather than rushing to hop from a tourist spot to another with a tight schedule. Let's take a leisurely walk through the maze-like Hyangchon-dong alleys full of modern and contemporary stories in Daegu.
Let's be lost in the old memories, which will be beautifully remembered in your heart as a watercolor.

As you will be accompanied by a drawing artist throughout the trip, even if you are new to painting, you will be able to complete one of the most romantic moments of your travel in a picture.
